This Privacy Policy describes how Knowley ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, processes, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and our website at knowley.app. Protecting your privacy and personal data is our highest commitment.

1. Data Controller

2. Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

We collect only the minimum data required to deliver a seamless, competitive trivia experience:

3. Third-Party Service Providers

To provide robust, reliable, and secure services, we integrate with industry-leading cloud platforms:

Notice: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties or advertising networks.

4. Data Security

We enforce strict technical and organizational safeguards:

  • All network traffic is encrypted using TLS 1.3 / HTTPS protocols.
  • Cloud Firestore Security Rules restrict data access strictly to authorized users.
  • Passwords are never stored in plaintext and are securely hashed using cryptographic standards.
  • Regular security auditing and automated dependency monitoring.

5. Account and Data Deletion Policy (Google Play & App Store Requirement)

You retain complete ownership and control over your data. You can request permanent deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

We provide two simple methods to delete your account and all associated personal data:

  • In-App Deletion: Open Knowley > Profile > Settings > tap "Delete Account".
  • Web / Email Request: Even without the app installed, visit our Support Page or send an email from your registered address to support@knowley.app with the subject "Account and Data Deletion Request".

Upon deletion, your email, username, gameplay history, leaderboard records, and all linked personal data are permanently and irreversibly purged from our active databases.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Knowley is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at support@knowley.app and we will promptly delete such records.

7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you hold the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access and receive a copy of your personal data,
  • The right to rectify inaccurate or incomplete data,
  • The right to erasure (Right to Be Forgotten),
  • The right to data portability in a machine-readable format,
  • The right to object to or restrict certain data processing activities.
